Homophobia

We often hear about homophobia in our society. Associations, governments and even some religious minorities contemptuously called "sects", in particular by the French-speaking people of Europe and Canada, fight against this plague. There are even national days of fight against homophobia and more than 600 000 Internet sites develop on this subject.

But what is homophobia: it is the fear or the hatred of homosexuality. It is a known fact that the human being, when afraid of something and if it is based on a belief, acts under the blow of the emotions and sometimes becomes aggressive and violent to counter this fear. But where does this fear come from and why do certain people show no reaction vis-à-vis homosexuality while others become aggressive? Often when a person is afraid of something or somebody, it is because he is afraid of himself or of his own feelings, and in the case of homophobia, it is obvious, because it appears for the person as something that is socially or psychologically unacceptable. This term “homophobia” is so taboo that we cannot even find it in certain great dictionaries.
